About Us

The Pre-Veterinary Medical Association is a pre-professional organization with the goal of cultivating undergraduate student interest in the field of veterinary medicine. Composed of students from various majors and colleges across Auburn University, we aim to familiarize students with what the career of a veterinarian consists of, and enlighten them on what it takes to become one.

Through our meetings we educate our members on what it takes to get into vet school, what the veterinary school application process entails such as test taking and interview preparation, and provide first-person insight to the various career opportunities one can pursue once obtaining a Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine, such as zoo veterinarian, becoming a specialist like a veterinary oncologist, and research opportunities.

Each semester the PVMA has several service dates where students can experience different aspects of the veterinary field while also gaining some hands-on experience with various animals. Some examples are: K-911, a no-kill animal shelter, the Southeastern Raptor Center, a raptor rehabilitation center, Storybook Farm Inc., an organization that provides equine assisted activities for children experiencing physical, mental, social and emotional challenges, along with trips to local humane societies. We also host several social events throughout the semester, such as fundraisers at restaurants like Tropical Smoothie Café.

We encourage the building of lasting friendships and the creation of connections that last not only through the years of undergrad, but into veterinary school and all the career opportunities in the future.
